Since v0.8.0 we’ve been quietly cleaning up a lot of the game’s controls. Some things that stopped working got fixed, and a handful of genuinely new features were added. If you want to check them out, download one of the bleeding edge builds.

What’s new

Flexible key bindings

You can now remap keys in settings.ini under the [KEYS] section. Scroll keys, combat keys, modifier keys — all configurable. No more hardcoded layout.

CTRL-Z — select same unit type

With units selected, pressing CTRL-Z selects all units of the same type currently on screen. Handy when you want to quickly rally all your trikes or infantry.

D — Devastator self-destruct

Select your Devastator and press D to trigger its explosion immediately. Use it wisely.

R — Repair group

Select a group of damaged units and press R to send them all for repairs at once, instead of handling them one by one. Any units that are not damaged will remain on the battlefield.


What’s been restored

Several controls existed in older versions but had broken at some point. These are working again:

  • P on a selected structure sets it as your primary building

Mira implemented the new unit commands and restored several controls that had gone missing.

Together with Claude, I have built a configurable key binding system from the ground up and fixed modifier key handling. Do note, as experiment I tried to let Claude drive the whole implementation.

Using Claude Code (Anthropic’s AI coding assistant) we try to accelerate development, tracking down bugs, and helping implement fixes. So far the experiences are pretty good!
